Where is Peg in this movie?

Wasn't Pete married to Peg in Goof Troop? What ever happened to her?

reply

Well she didn't star in this movie.

He also had a daughter on Goof Troop as well.

I think the reason they were absent was because they weren't important to the story. Pete and PJ's presence are to stand as parallels to Goofy & Max's father&son relationship (Pete's abusive dominance vs. Goofy's tender loving care). Peg and Pistol's presence were unnecessary.

They don't show Pete and PJ at home. It seems to me its more like "father/son bonding" The girls are prolly at home.

There is a minor fan theory that suggests Peg divorced and left Pete and took Pistol with her before the movie takes place.
Personally, if the movies are in the same continuity as the series (there's very little reason to assume they aren't) I don't buy that.

Peg and Pistol just weren't needed for the story is all. So they didn't make an appearance.
Kinda like how Roxanne wasn't necessarily needed for "An Extremely Goofy Movie" but made a later appearance in "House of Mouse".

They never stated that Pete wasn't married or even implied it. Maybe Peg and Pistol were just at home, doing their own thing and letting Pete and PJ have a father-son vacation. It makes sense to me.

iirc, the series was made after the movie, didn't it?

reply

No. The series came first in 1992, THEN A Goofy Movie in 1995. Max and PJ are 11 in Goof Troop and 14 in A Goofy Movie.

reply

I think they got divorced.

reply

Although it is never mentioned what happened to Peg and Pistol I think that after Goof Troop and before A Goofy Movie Pete and Peg divorced and Peg took Pistol with her and left PJ in his father's custody because in the sequal An Extremly Goofy Movie Pete tells Goofy since PJ is leaving for college he is now a free man and since PJ is the oldest that probably tells you that Pistol isn't living with him she's living with her Mom sonmewhere else also in the fact that they aren't seen at the good luck at college party in the beginning. I rest my case. Pete and Peg divorced and Peg took Pistol with her and Pete kept custody of PJ.

Peg and Pistol aren't seen because they don't play a real role in the plot in the movies. They're about the father-son dynamic. I just think they watched Chainsaw and Waffles in AGM. I don't see Peg divorcing Pete, she loved him despite his antics and the animals didn't die because this is cartoonland.
