Hows it stack up in 2021?

I didn't enjoy it in the 90s, I was probably too young to understand it.

Is it any good?

I just watched it for the first time. It’s a really enjoyable movie, but parts of it seem like it’s trying to capitalize on the then-recent success of Pulp Fiction with the movie having a similar feel and the casting of John Travolta in a mobster role.

John Travolta actually passed on the role twice until Quentin Tarantino convinced him to take it. The character was originally going to be played by Danny DeVito who produced it.

I still enjoy this one very much. If you liked Get Shorty, the sequel Be Cool (2005) is also worth watching, although it's not quite as good.
