Why does Corey run out on Rex?

I never really understood this part. The whole movie she plans on sleeping with Rex, then when the moment finally comes, she bolts. What the...?

I guess because he wasn't romantic? The fact that he was borderline rude to her ("I couldn't help but notice you--staring at me." "Marrying me? Pfft you must've been a baby then") shouldve been a red flag that the guy wasn't going to be gentle and sweet.

I think it's because she realized what she was going to do...that she had more at stake here than he did.....that she wanted it to be special; where Rex just would see it as another conquest.

I think him 'whipping it out' shocked her into the reality of the situation.

.well in one version he goes, "i hope you like "blue cheese" and he shakes the bottle of dressing, and i think she gets disgusted at that and walks out. also she may realized that he was a washed up imposter far before he admitted to being one and figured this wasn't a good idea.

I thought Rex was doing the honourable thing with those first few lines... not showing any real interest in her, saying she was too young etc, that wasn't what put her off.

What put her off was probably the way he just matter-of-factly pulled down his zipper "rock and roll". What that did was destroy her childhood illusions about the guy. All of a sudden he becomes a just another average horny guy.

What I didn't like was how the movie seemed to want to discredit Rex Manning for his behaviour. It's not like he was actively trying to trick these girls into it. They were throwing themselves at him.

Rex got a bad edit. You watch the deleted/altered parts and you realize that after everyone says he's washed up he ends up agreeing. Saying he never wanted to be what he turned into, and then during roof concert he comes up and plays.

So going by what his character originally, I think he was being protective in a sense of Corey. He didn't want to take advantage of her, so he showed no interest in her, and when she kept pushing forward he just whipped it out and said get to it. After she was disgusted, and left, you see him smile.

With Gina, he just went and did it with her, because he knew she wasn't some girl with a school girl crush on him.

That's interesting, I had no idea.

I feel like it might've given the movie a little more depth if they'd left those scenes in. As is, it feels a bit too 'teen centric'. I know that's the audience they're making it for, but it sorta comes across like it's okay for the kids to be a little messed up and have their problems, but an adult like Rex with imperfections becomes a target for ridicule. I dunno.

It's a teenager against "The man" movie. You can't have the man be likeable.

I agree with this. Because he seems to have this "are you really sure" kind of attitude. He meant to shock her out of her fantasy and he did.

I agree with all of this. He was not putting moves on her and was actually very polite and sweet when he thanked for the nice lunch she prepared for him. I wish they had not portrayed him in a negative light and kept the deleted scenes with him.

She had imagined all her adolescent life that it would be quiet and romantic, but it wasn't because Rex didn't see her that way. He just saw her as another notch on his bed. So her expectations were completely blown, and it's hard to still have sex when you're a woman and that kind of crap happens...

I always thought that when Rex whipped it out he was just looking for a blow job, not sex, which took all the romance out of it for Corey. And it probably also showed that he wasn't at all the guy she had a crush on for all those years.

And also it probably cuts to the core of Corey's "self-righteousness" because Rex didn't treat her like a princess the way everyone else seems to.

But my interpretation's probably kinda biased because Corey always got on my nerves.

Maybe its just because he was about to have his lunch and he didn't want to be disturbed. lol... But seriously, I think he just does that to get rid of her as he is not interested and she is far too young for him.

Because she realized being with Rex wouldn't be anything special and she realized her first time should be with someone special. I also think that it was one of the few times Rex was being a 'good' person. I think he was trying to turn Corey off and he realized that by treating it like she was just a notch on his bedpost would turn her off. I think he realized Corey was pretty innocent which was why he originally tried to talk her out of it. When that didn't work, he showed her through actions that it wouldn't mean anything to him. And that finally clued her into the fact that she wanted it to mean something. And the reason why Rex had no problem being with Gina was because he realized that she was far beyond innocent.

I hated the remix that showed Rex as some really good guy. I liked the original where Rex was a douche (so much funnier). He was a douche throughout except for this one scene where I thought he was a pretty good guy.

I never saw Rex as a douche. Just a washed-up pop star that wasn't relevant to the current times. As evidenced by no younger "fans" having heard of him, or him being the favorite singer of women when they were young. He got a bad rap. He fussed about his hair, which everyone does, he was going to have to sit all day, so he wanted a chair he'd be comfortable in, and he didn't want to corrupt a young girl. The only douchy thing he did was hit AJ after he was restrained. Other than that, I kinda felt sorry for Rex.

Corey imagined Rex Manning to be a romantic, passionate guy who would be just like the fantasy she had built up in her head. In the end she was sat in a dirty backroom where Rex did the oh-so-sexy thing of leaning back in his chair, getting his dick out and declaring "Rock and roll". Corey realised that she would be just another conquest to him and nothing more. She suddenly felt cheap.
