Should Holly have returned and played a school teacher
in that school that had the fake bomb in it? That way they could have brought her back and give John more of reason to want to stop Simon and his evil plans.

shareNahhh, wouldn't have made sense for her to be a teacher all of a sudden. BUT, Holly being back in New York City in another corporate executive job, and them still being separated/divorced, and John's KIDS being students at one of the schools that might blow up... that might have been really good, and added a lot to an already great movie.
shareOn the other hand, her appearing yet again and being in a predicament could be criticized as:
A. Too convenient.
B. Too repetitive (John had to save Holly twice, now he has to save their kids?)
A criticism of the second film was that it was too similar to the first film. I think the third was right to not have Holly be a big part of the story this time.
Eh, this might be my interpretation but it seemed clear when you first see Simon in person that there was no bomb in the school as he says, "They bought it. You can begin." If there really was a bomb why would he say that?
