what made Die Hard great was that it was a cop stuck in a "place" trying to shoot his way through. Die Harder was crap.. but the setting was again mostly at one "place" the airport.
with the occasional church visit.
Part 3 is crap because there are TOO many locations and the wild-goose chase with Gruber are painful and coincidental at best.
I consider this to be true sequel to the first film. It even pretends that Die Hard 2 never happened. Its not a crap film, but could have used a better ending. And the violence was clumsily censored.

The original script for Die Hard 3 was called Simon Says and wasn't a Die Hard film until it was re-written.
