Not really very good at all

Some of the interaction between McLane and Zeus was fun, but the direction is just garbage -- almost incoherent by today's standards. Just watch the final few seconds with Simon in the helicopter and tell me that is in any way effective or sensible direction! It's like 5 or 6 quick cuts from different angles which results not in climactic impact, but dizziness. Garbage!

The puzzles Simon gave them were child's play. And of course, this film was a precursor to all the "impossible physics" of innumerable movies that followed -- even the first two Die Hards kept the physics close to reality. The violence in the elevator set a new, low standard for gore. But really, the amateurish direction throughout is just, well, bad

I could watch this over and over, all day, for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

reply

A-freaking-men. I've seen it god knows how many times, and I'm ready to watch it again.

Same here. One of the most re-watchable movies I've ever seen, and one of the best action movies of the 90's ( and far superior to most of the insipid bubblegum shyte passing for action flicks nowadays ).

This is my second least fav in the series, but you're being a bit harsh.

You're also missing the point of Simon's games. Of course they were silly and childish; they only functioned as a distraction from his main plan, and intended to tie up resources and eventually lead to John's murder at the park as payback, but that was just icing on the cake for him.

reply

It was okay until they got on the boat and then the film fell apart.

It is easily the second best Die Hard in the series, makes the pathetic parts 4 and 5 look like the corny, simpering, hack-crafted, cash-grabbing, SHYTE! that they are,........ and it is one of the BEST action/thrillers of the 90's.

The violence in the elevator set a new, low standard for gore

You're an utter disgrace of a so-called action-movie fan just for dribbling out this laughable nonsense for us to read. It is because of people just like you that we have the bloodless/insipid/beyond-far-fetched cartoon violence we see nowadays in the Fast & Furious and superhero type movies.
