shareI always took the stutter he does at the end, as a way of mocking the NYPD to his men. Since Simon seemed to know everything that the police and feds were doing, he probably figured, they would have a shrink there analyzing him, when he first made contact, so he faked a stutter, when McClaine pushed him. Remember, when he stutters at the end, it's when he's toasting the gullibility of the NYPD.

Right but the OP said that was the only time he stuttered. I was just pointing out that there was a second stutter, too. I think he faked it to throw the NYPD off.

He stuttered because he pretended to be affected by what McClane said and to care for his brother Gruber. In fact, he didn't care about McClane.

Also at the end, Simon points this out when he's making his victory speech.. "thanks to the g-g-g-g-g-gullibility of the NYPD".
