Let's face it, Juanita is indeed an annoying bitch but Delilah is really cool. At first I was like WTF when Anthony came back from Nam and she was like "devil white men brainwashed you" but she was cool, smart, strongwilled and foxy. Seriously she was friggin sexy and looks really great as a black pantherish gal Am I the only one who think that?
No Gab, you're not alone in thinking that. I watched it with a friend and we both made similar observations to your own and agreed that Anthony made the wrong choice when it came to the sisters, literally...
YEA Antony picked the wrong sista..but Delilah was too young for anthony in the beginning..Iremeber the scene where Ant and Nita walked in on D groovin in Nitas room..long sexy ass leggs and all
They made Delilah very likable. It was almost difficult to believe that she and Juanita were raised in the same house.
They seem to go to just as much effort to make Juanita unlikeable. From the fist words out of her mouth at the graduation party "what y'all talking bout over there Anthony" almost through the end, they made her sound whiny. (Well, Jose is talking about how he can't wait to marry Rose and Anthony is talking about getting out of town as soon as possible. That's what they're talking about over there. Did you really want to know that?)
Maybe back in high school, Anthony felt Juanita was the better choice. After all, Delilah did say she didn't have time to be studying boys. After they got older, Delilah was clearly the better choice but he already had a child with the sister by then so that ship had sailed.
Some good points were mentioned about Juanita, even about how she came off earlier in the movie because I never looked at it like that. She also pressured Anthony a little to stay at her house.
I always liked Juanita's character, although her looks had a lot to do with it. She didn't diss Anthony in favor of Cutty, like when she tried introducing the two. She stuck with Anthony despite his issues when she could have could have chose Cutty. She tried to comfort him physically & verbally but he wasn't right. I'd put more blame on Anthony for being distant towards Juanita, although his paranoia about Cutty was understandable.
Reboot, restart or re-imagining is another word for remake
