THE NATIONAL BLACK TALENT DIRECTORY 1987

I think the Brothers are genius, I had the chance to hear about them before they made MENACE II SOCIETY. I was the director of sales of the historic book THE NATIONAL BLACK TALENT DIRECTORY in 1987. They came into the office before they had created the above title looking for a way to break into Hollywood. We told them to go back to school and they attended L.A.C.C. where they met their producer at a lecture the rest is history.

THE NATIONAL BLACK TALENT DIRECTORY came along when the NAACP could not hand out an image award for a black man in a leading role of a feature film? My how things change when you have organization. The book had over 1,000 registrants and saw the faces of the new black film and television industry develop new stars were born. We had Tommy Davidson, Jamie Foxx, T'Keya Crystal just to name a few come into the office and ask how can I get my career started, they had the talent we knew Hollywood. The book last for two years before the advent of the internet and competition we became obsolete.

I still would like to thank our sponsors who made it all possible, ORION PICTURES, WARNER BROS.STUDIOS, PARAMOUNT PICTURES, EDDIE MURPHY PRODUCTIONS, PAT TOBIN, VANESSA WILLIAMS, GEORGE LUCAS FILM,LTD., SFX, KTTV FOX TELEVISION, 40 ACRES AND A MULE, UNIVERSAL PICTURES, WALT DISNEY COMPANY, VIGNETTE MULTI-MEDIA, TOWER RECORDS, LEXIE BINGHAM, REED MCCANTS, REDD FOX, BYRON ALLEN, JOE WILLIAMS, BRAD SANDERS, GLENN RAPHAEL, TINY "TOM "TINY" LISTER, DEXTER GORDON, IAN FOXX, PAUL BATES, MALCOM JAMAAL WARNER, LARRY B. I did what God ask me to do and the rest is history. You should find the directory at AFI and the major studios. I can send one to you. 702-834-8223
