The lingo/language is off?

Enjoyed this film now like I did when it first came out. But no longer a teenager, I can't help but notice that the overuse of profanity (especially modern use), and slang seems out of place.
Thought late 60s-early 70s language was more colorful and creative.
Or maybe that's just me.

You're right about the slang use. I don't think the terms "crib" or "dawg" were around then. Plus, did people say MF'er that much like they did in this film?

All I need is one mic...

Those slang words weren't used

Yes they were, are you kidding? That's when all that slang came about

I'm a 33 year old white guy, so by now means am I an authority on this, but I too felt there was a lot of anachronism within the slang, especially considering the first half of the movie takes place in the mid to late 60's. Yet, the characters speak as if they were in 1993. Has black slang not evolved at all over 40 years? Were black cats really calling each other "homies" in 1966? IDK, man. Let's get some answers in here.

The term "crib" and "pad" meaning home, or house was around in the 60's. I know because I am in my 70's and we used it.
