Impressed with Rick Schroder's performance

I'm watching it for the first time right now to honor Scott's memory. I'm 75% finished with it.
It has many actors who were stars even at the time and guys who were going to be stars years down the road (Viggo, Tony Soprano, etc.)
But I am amazed that Schroder didn't finally make the transition to serious acting after they made this film. Even if he isn't leading man material, I think that he made a great case for a "that guy"/ character role in feature films.

Does someone who wields a lot of power in Hollywood hate that guy (rhetorical question)?

From What I understand Rick Schroder isn't really that interested in Acting anymore. He was on NYPD Blue and did a great job. I think he just wanted to spend time with his family and maybe do an acting gig from time to time. Kind of like What Kirk Cameron is doing now, minus the religious stuff. If Rick Schroder wanted to get back into acting full time, I have no doubt he wouldn't find any problem getting back into it.

He was better in The Earthling.

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

Wasn't he just in that one scene where he had to close the hatch when it flooded Barnes (Steve Zahn) and the other two guys? I can't remember him in any other scene..
