So would the nukes have made it in time?

Seems like they delayed firing the nukes until just a few minutes before the rebel forces had the ability to fire. But were they that close to the target to begin with? Last position I recall Ramsey saying was they were patrolling the Empress sea mounts, which is the fault lines alone Hawaii if I'm not mistaken and not along the Asian coastline. Missiles are fast, but not that fast... Did I misunderstand their position?

Agreed, that would seem to be a plot hole.

In the movie, the Russians were fueling their missiles and could launch them in 60 minutes. That countdown drove the plot. The problem with that was if the idea was to take out those missiles before they could launch, the Alabama needed to launch its missiles probably no more than 30 minutes into that countdown. Otherwise the missiles would pass each other in midair.

They mention that by November 1st they have reached the tip of the Kamchatka peninsula, which is the eastern most tip of Russia and extremely close to the rebel-controlled nuclear base.

The fact Captain Ramsey gives XO Hunter 3 minutes to get the radio working when the Russians have just 7 minutes left before launch makes me assume a Trident missile would get above the base and fire off it's warheads within minutes.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.
