What does 'spin up missiles' mean?
The guy making the announcement says "Spin up missiles 1 through 5", what does that mean?
shareI'm going to take a guess that it refers to initializing the guidance system and otherwise making the missile fully ready for launch. It probably harkens back to the days of physical spinning gyros which are no longer used. The terminology lingers after the technology changes, like "dialing the phone."
"Morbius, something is approaching from the southwest. It is now quite close."
