hunter said that they have backups if they do not launch. does that mean there were more than one nuclear submarine?

Well no sh!t sherlock!

The US Navy has 18 Ohio class Ballistic Missile Submarines which USS Alabama is one of them.

Since that film however, four of them have been converted from SSBN to SSGN submarines.

if thats true why the hell they say that one of three most powerfull people is the captain of nuclear missile submarine as in singular? whats up with that?

It's stated, "the captain of a nuclear submarine." Look up "indefinite" articles and get the line of the film right.

It's just because "tied for third" doesn't fit as well into a snappy sentence (at least not in English; I'm not sure about Russian.)

That intro sentence is probably not meant to be taken literally. It's just a pithy way to draw attention to how much firepower is under the command of an SSBN captain.

"Morbius, something is approaching from the southwest. It is now quite close."
