A B Movie With a Budget That is Still a B Movie
I am watching it now for the first time probably since I saw it in the theaters and I am laughing at a lot of the unintentionally bad dialog and acting. Particularly from the supporting cast. Delroy Lindo, Tim Curry and Ernie Hudson all have horrible, put-on accents. Bruce Campbell at the beginning of the movie can't seem to break away from playing, well, Bruce Campbell. I like him but the man screams B movie. As well, I think I have heard "wilhelm scream" a few times but I might be mistaken. Even some of the main actors have poor dialog and they do the best they can to work with the material. I'm not going to say anything about the special effects that haven't been said already, other than the fact that they aren't nearly as bad as some people have made them out to be. I can at least appreciate what Winston and his team can accomplish given the technology available.
Overall though, the movie is a fun but it is still a B movie pretending to be a high grade film.
I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.
