If you were to remake this what would your cast be like?

I don't think they should remake this movie - it's a classic and a remake would never capture its spirit. I'd hope for a sequel with Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd and Stacey Dash, 20 years after the first one.

Agreed on NEVER remaking this. It's already so perfect as is and nobody could ever do it better. This is definitely a film from its time. The clothes, the hair, the styles, the music, the slang. All very 90's and I just couldn't see any of it being as well done in the 21st century.

But I really am not a fan on any of these choices.

First of all, Joseph Gordon Levitt as Christian?! Really?! He is in his early 30's for god sake and an established leading man. Why would he be playing a supporting role HIGH SCHOOL AGE kid? Come on! He doesn't even look like a teenager, at all. Terrible choice, sorry.

Chloe Grace I just can't see playing a ditz. Amazing actress, absolutely. But she is a serious up and comer. Wouldn't be caught dead playing a ditzy air-head like Cher.

Michelle Pfeiffer is way too gorgeous (even at her age) to play somebody as frumpy and dorky as Miss Geist.

And the appeal of B. Murph (RIP) as Tai was that she wasn't super gorgeous, especially back in the 90's. She could be dressed up to look like a skater tomboy who'd "never had straight friends before" and didn't wear make-up or do her hair. Lucy Hale is way too glamorous (even with out make-up/hair) to be believable as Tai pre-Cher's makeover. And I highly doubt she can do a Boston accent. LOL.

What about Murrayy??
And aside from Keke Palmer, I don't really care for you list. lol.
JGL is not the right cast as Christian.
But, I agree with the others. This movie is PERFECT!

If forced maybe, wow this is tricky, not quite as familiar with the really young actors and they seem cast a different sort these days for the most than in years past, most seem so slick and produced and the same or just all the wrong vibe, imaging the 1990 cast (another thread) was so much easier, but a few of these are pretty good I think and a few a bit of a reach:

Cher - Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Jane Levy (she could actually work for Tai too in a way), Emma Roberts (if she could project the right sweet undercurrent enough, she almost feels too locked into a top it girl vibe though for the part perhaps), Emma Watson

Dionne - Zendaya Coleman

Tai - Vanessa Hudgens

Murray - Tequan Richmond?

Josh - man I don't know, Josh Hutcherson

Travis - Ben McKenzie if they made it when the O.C. was on

and yeah I will give up
and let this never be remade

maybe something in this style for today, it's own movie, Heckerling made an early 80s, mid-90s and can make a late 2010s?
