I caught this on TV, and after Cher realized she was in love with Josh, that was when I realized it, too! I thought, Hey, she's right! She and Josh have the healthiest relationship in this movie, so it makes sense!
I guess the only hint I got was early in the film, when Josh kind of pinches/tickles her stomach.
so i know this is an older comment, but i'm currently rewatching this movie as we speak, and i'm just realizing the same thing! in the scene where josh leaves helping Mel, to follow Cher and Christian on their date, Mel literally starts chuckling to himself b/c it's that obvious even he has picked up on it that early!!!
shareJosh always saw Cher as a spoiled, superficial, intellectually lazy brat. You can see the first change when he brings his girlfriend to pick Cher up after the valley party. He starts to realize that she has a sense of humor and a brain. The next time is when she needs to bring food to her dad (and the rest of the team). What I find funny is that she hasn't "grown", she's still doing what her dad said she's been doing. Taking care of him.
