Cher Horowitz and Elle Woods

I just realized that Cher and Elle woods characters are both kinda similar. They both live in the valley, people see them as airheads who just like to shop at the mall, but they prove themselves to be smarter than they look. Isn't it funny that they're personalities are a little bit the the same?

reply

I was thinking of their similarities tonight as I watched the film too. However Elle was a completely nice non-elitist person from the get go. Cher and all her "you gotta be in the right crowd" stuff was a bit immature, though she did get better at it.

You were fantastic...absolutely fantastic...and d'you know what? So was I.

but cher is a bit younger so her character hasn't matured yet. i think she can be excused for that

True, but I still think Clueless may have been required viewing for Reece before she made Legally Blonde.🐭

reply

I love them both <3 Idk who I like better lol.

reply

No. Cher would roll her eyes if she ever had a conversation with someone like Elle Woods. Elle Woods was essentially a cartoon character. Cher is actually just a pampered rich girl but somewhat realistic but not really that dumb just American. Cher does not live in the Valley. Cher lives in Beverly hills.

I watched Legally Blonde immediately after Clueless - almost subconsciously. And realized both films make a perfect double feature.

Yeah.

I'd say Clueless is basically a prequel to the Legally Blonde movies......call it a trilogy....and classics.

reply

I'd say Elle is a lot more ditzy.

Though Cher seems immature and childish at points, I don't think she's so much an airhead.

Cher was a 16 year old acting like a stereotyped 18 yr old who wanted to do big things with her life but was totally naive
Elle Woods was an 18 year old (I assume? Correct me if I'm wrong) but even more naive (Genuinely, show me a teenager who is that bouncily giggly excited about the prospect of marriage before a real bond and I'll show you a girl who isn't ready to get engaged)
Cher probably wasn't a genius, certainly not in the ways her dad would hope for, but her life has been so narrow that you get the feeling that as her life opens up more and more she will discover more.
Elle Woods turned out to be better than her high school boyfriend at the thing he had spent years preparing for. Presumably because she discovered her talent at the right time, purely coincidentally. Which is fine, I mean... her dropping out 6 months into a law degree to go study physics would be very confusing as a major film.
Their stories are almost conflicting if anything.

reply

Elle had just graduated college and was in her first year of Law School. She was probably around 21 or 22.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

I love them both, I think they'd be best friends and it would be cool to hang out with them (great shopping buddies).

"You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you." Mr Darcy

reply

I know right I can see that too. Elle would fit right on in with Cher and Dionne.
