I just realized that Cher and Elle woods characters are both kinda similar. They both live in the valley, people see them as airheads who just like to shop at the mall, but they prove themselves to be smarter than they look. Isn't it funny that they're personalities are a little bit the the same?
I was thinking of their similarities tonight as I watched the film too. However Elle was a completely nice non-elitist person from the get go. Cher and all her "you gotta be in the right crowd" stuff was a bit immature, though she did get better at it.
You were fantastic...absolutely fantastic...and d'you know what? So was I.
No. Cher would roll her eyes if she ever had a conversation with someone like Elle Woods. Elle Woods was essentially a cartoon character. Cher is actually just a pampered rich girl but somewhat realistic but not really that dumb just American. Cher does not live in the Valley. Cher lives in Beverly hills.
Cher was a 16 year old acting like a stereotyped 18 yr old who wanted to do big things with her life but was totally naive Elle Woods was an 18 year old (I assume? Correct me if I'm wrong) but even more naive (Genuinely, show me a teenager who is that bouncily giggly excited about the prospect of marriage before a real bond and I'll show you a girl who isn't ready to get engaged) Cher probably wasn't a genius, certainly not in the ways her dad would hope for, but her life has been so narrow that you get the feeling that as her life opens up more and more she will discover more. Elle Woods turned out to be better than her high school boyfriend at the thing he had spent years preparing for. Presumably because she discovered her talent at the right time, purely coincidentally. Which is fine, I mean... her dropping out 6 months into a law degree to go study physics would be very confusing as a major film. Their stories are almost conflicting if anything.
