James Woods as Lester Diamond is one of his finest performances of his career

I'm so glad Martin Scorsese casted him for the role of Lester Diamond. James Woods is such a good actor and a very smart person with an incredibly high IQ.

I remember reading they were originally going to cast Harvey Keitel in that role which would have been interesting, although he’d played a very similar role in Taxi Driver.

James Woods was perfect though I agree, great peformance.

Love Woods in this part. He brings this wannabe smooth talking gangster, whose actually just some bumbling small time hustler junkie, who actually isn't that bright. My favorite parts are in the diner right before he leaves, he considers taking the money Ace threw on the table, but wisely decides to leave it. And when Ginger is trying to explain to him that Ace called his house asking for her. Which means he already knows they're there and he probably has guys coming to the house.
