Deleted Scenes...........

Why is Paramount so damn lazy with their DVD/Blu-Ray releases? I've seen the movie a few times on cable tv and there are a ton of deleted scenes that are added back in for some of the airings that are actually pretty funny. Why don't they include them on the home vido releases?

There were several scenes with Jean Smart's drunk wife character that were hilarious.

I just got The BB Variety Hour and Susan and Mike discuss their deleted scenes in the movie on it. It's a shame they were deleted but it's a travesty that the studio never bothered to release a proper DVD with the outtakes/deleted scenes.

I couldn't agree more! Paramount kinda sucks with their DVD releases of some their movies. I would love to see some deleted scenes and why the heck is this DVD 34 bucks on Amazon? I love the movie but I don't understand why someone would pay that much for a movie! I wish Paramount would re-release these films with new extras!

reply

It was Sherwood Schwartz who wouldn't let them use those scenes. He felt they were inappropriate.

Yeah i was so devastated when i found out that there were deleted scenes in this movie and they WEREN'T included on the DVD, yet they air on Cable. I have never seen the cable version, so i have never seen these scenes but based on the script they seem really funny! Stupid Paramount, can't believe they didn't release those on a DVD. Yes Mr. Schwartz didn't want them released because he thought it was inappropriate but since they air them on TV anyway, they could have at least put them on the DVD release in a deleted scenes bonus menu for the people who really wanted to see it! Does anybody have the Cable Tv version?

reply

A number of scenes shown in trailers were cut at the last minute because producer Sherwood Schwartz objected. These included a grunge band scene in the garage with Greg and Eddie, and a seduction scene between Mrs. Dittmeyer and Peter. Some of these scenes were edited back in for the network TV showings, but not for the DVD edition.

Does anyone know where you can find them or watch them online?

I didn't see them on youtube. I guess you could look for them the next time you see The Brady Bunch Movie on commercial TV. I usually loath watching movies on commercial TV, mostly because of editing. But sometimes they actually add scenes.

I always hated that they cut out the scene with Missy's termites eating the floor under the toilet and Dittmeyer fell through the floor when he sat down because they kept in the part where Dittmeyer buys a new toilet while wearing a neckbrace and it makes no sense.

Maybe for the 20th anniversary DVD. Probably not, but I can dream.

Missy's termites? I assume they were the 'science project' Cindy mentions at the beginning of the film (hers being finished)? and thank you, mandapanda16, for explaining the 'buying a toilet' scene, I never knew where that came from...and I guess they couldn't cut that, since it was a song-and-dance number, and with the tvs like the credits
