why is she watching her neighbours???

i really like this movie...but everytime i watch it i ask myself WHY she is watchin her neighbours with this camera?
is it because she can't stand being around people and they're her window to the outside world...like...her only social connection?

can anyone explain this to me?

haha I just saw this and am wondering the same thing!

You answered your own question. She was a loner with no social contact. Spying on her neighbors was her one outlet.

She's a voyeur. Likes being on the outside and obviously has a penchant for knowing secrets. She has zero human interaction other than her passing comments to her neighbors, so she fills it by watching them.
I think if this movie had been made a little later, she would have had a network of wireless web cams set up all over her building.

That's the only flaw I found with this film, is that it's already extremely dated because of how much it relies on computer tech for the plot. Not as bad as Hackers...but...still I laugh whenever I see that Linux-based looking IM program they use, and all the concern about floppy disks.

Either that or she's seen the movie Sliver way too many times......either that or the Wachowski brothers have.

reply

It's not a flaw.

I'd like to be spying on her. Maybe while showering. Moore looked really good in this movie. Sometimes she looks so-so but I was taken with her in this one.

I'd like to spy on Electra!

I agree - she's a perv! Well it makes a change from having some fat slob male computer geek peering at some flesh. Just watched this the other day - yep, floppy discs really date a movie - just like the first Mission Impossible.

...now I do it just to watch their f----n' expression change.
