Preliminary essay
Once upon a time I seem to remember that Ralph Bakshi's Wizards (1977) was subtitled A Preliminary Essay For The Lord Of The Rings (admittedly I can't find this on line).
Anyway, it seems to me that this film is the first draft of The West Wing. Several actors and story items later appear in TWW and I wonder if Sorkin used this footage in the pitch to make the series.
Apart from that, it's also an enjoyable movie.
