Rewatching Voyager, better than expected.

I loved Star Trek, but was so unhappy and bored with it by the
time of Voyager that I never watched it. The series happened to
be streaming for free and I watched it along with Enterprise.

I thought Enterprise was the best, but Voyager was good. I thought
Mulgrew got the female in command just right, though that voice
did grate every once in a while.

I still cannot take Next Generation, Deep Space 9 ??? whatever.

The new on Discovery did not seem very good either. I don't know
why it is so hard to write good Star Trek follow-on, there is a rich
history of this world?

Neelix was an awesome character? Besides Wesley Crusher, Neelix is the most annoying character in the ST universe. I put him up there with Jar Jar Binks when it comes to getting on my nerves.

Other than him, I enjoyed the show and sometimes sneak a look at some of my favorite episodes on Netflix. The worst part about Voyager was the ending. We struggle with these characters, wanting them to get home, and they rob us of closure. I'm pissed about that to this very day. Not sure what the idiots-that-be were thinking.

Voyager is my favorite series after the original. I would love to see them reboot and do it as a film trilogy.

It was an enjoyable series. I think they might have offed Seska a bit too early in the series though, she made one heck of a fun villain.

She was Part Maquis, part Cardassian--the DS9 fan in me was screaming with that reveal.

I think Voyager messed up a bit when they finally got in contact with the Federation, they never talked about the Dominion War, yet for several years that 3 quadrant event threatened the very existence of the Federation. I think all we got about it was a little 'quip' from Chakotay talking to B'elanna about their fellow Maquis being wiped out by a "species from the Gamma Quadrant" or something like that.

I also think Voyager had a missed opportunity when they never showed an on-camera debate with the senior staff whether they should travel towards the Gamma Quadrant and take the Idran wormhole to the Alpha Quadrant, or point the nose towards Federation space. Though on the map, both are 70,000-75,000 ly away regardless, so really a flip of the coin. It would have been an entirely different series had they gone the Gamma Quadrant route.

Voyager looking like it just came out of drydock every episode didn't help things either. I look at Battlestar Galactica, and as you get through the third and fourth season, the Galactica looks like it has been through some very tough times and back. Voyager just looks pristine and a bit too clean all the time. I think a few scratches and scuffs on the external hull, in an effort to save replicator energy, would have done the series a bit more justice.

The holodeck power and Voyager power systems not being compatible was absolutely ridiculous, and I also found it hilarious that they kept using the holodecks while making sure not to use replicators very often. Somehow entertainment for the senior crew was one upped on actually surviving. Also we learned in TNG that holodeck power systems are indeed compatible with ship power.

Anyways, small gripes, minor really, but great series overall.
