Slayers live action cast?
If someone had the audacity to attempt a film adaptation of Slayers, who would you cast in the roles of Lina Inverse, Gourry Gabriev, Zelgadis, Amelia and all the rest?

I'm not sure that Slayers would transfer well to a live action movie, but it would be possible. I think the anime medium just fits. I will try to think of a cast nonetheless. I am not familiar with any Japanese actors or actresses, nor did I watch the series in it's origional Japanese all the way through, so I am a bit biased towards the English stylings of the series.
Lina: For Lina, the only name that comes to mind at the moment is Milla Jovovich(sp?). Simply because she has the right build, small stature and small breasts. I'm not a pervert, their small size is poart of Lina's character. Milla is also good at the strong girl attitude that you can't have Lina without.
Gourry: I think David Wenham(Farmir from LOTR) could do Gourry. He's got the build and face that would work. Wenham showed an aptitude for a serious fighter in his role as Faramir and showed that he could do the kind of quircky character that Gorry would be off the battlefield as Friar Carl in Van Helsing. The only real problem I see is that David really isn't that all that tall(6'), but thet can be fixed using computers.
Amelia: I think Helena Bonham-Carter could pull off the serious over-acting that Amelia would require... and she'd look good doing it.
Zelgadis: Hmm.. I think that whoever they get for Zel should be able to do the angry loner, yet calm and repressed sort of character, with a level-headedness to counter Amelia's "Justice-Freak"-ness. Mel Gibson would have fit the roll twenty years ago, but that's too bad. I can't think of any actor that would fit very well off the top of my head right now. Perhaps Heath Ledger or Ewan McGregor, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Xellos: There are two directions for Xellos, the Japanese slick, almost guido Xellos, or David Moo's controversial nerdy Xellos in the English dub. I think either would work. The Japanese Xellos sounded too much like a used car salesman to me; all smiley and nice, but with an evil intention that he's not telling you. But then, that is Xellos, that exactly who he is. At first I hated Moo's "nerdy voice," but after a while it seemed to fit. As Xellos' character grew the voice seemed to fit even better. It was a sort of fitting irony that Xellos; that such an extremely powerful and mysterious person would have such a voice, but like I said before it was a fitting irony. I'm at a loss for who could do this right now, though Andy Serkis(Gollum/Smeagol of LOTR) is a good actor with great voice control who, I think, could handle either direction of Xellos. I'm seeing an amusing picture of Serkis' face framed by the purple, square-cut hair of Xellos. I think he would fit.
I'll be back when I think of people fot the other characters like Martina, Prince Phil, Sylphiel, Gaav or Phibrizzo. Or Saygram, but I think Saygram would end up having to be a CG character anyways, or shot in the same manner that Gollum was shot in LOTR; actor performing on camera to be replaced by CG later with only the voice kept.
Edit: Vigilant One, I think Sean Bean would make a good Gaav too.
Here's my idea: give the whole thing a spaghetti-Western-peppered treatment, but keep the original setting, but shoot it entirely in Mexico.
Now here's my casts.

I say:
Emma Watson as Lina Inverse
Miranda Cosgrove as Amelia
Cher as Naga the Serpent
"Wait a minute! Why are you mad at me? He's the one who ate your father!"
What are thy other casting choices for the characters?

Go with a cast of unknowns, they'll work better. And as for director, either James Wan or Sam Raimi.

Emma Watson as Lina? Oh my God that would be terrible... similarly, Rupert Grint as Gourry would be equally bad.
I'm sorry but I cannot support having any Harry Potter actors in a Slayers film.
Man, I had forgotten I had started this thread.
So what? This is swords-and-sorcery we're dealing with here.
