I remember something involving people listening to an audio recording and it causes them to evolve into alien-like creatures. There is something to do with the sun I think, people have to choose to evolve or they will die.

It's called "Music of the Spheres" and includes young stars like Kirsten Dunst and Joshua Jackson. It's one of my very favorites from this series.
