Although the series finale Requiem DID tie up the storyline, it also left things open for a possible spinoff series. In the last few episodes we clearly see that Caleb is being drawn to the dark side by Lucas, but in the finale he is "saved" by Merlyn as she risks her "afterlife" and is absorbed into him. However, if a spinoff were to come out they could have Caleb older and the new sheriff of Trinity. The series could be about Caleb trying to fight the evil inside him thanks to being Lucas' son, and the remains of Merlyn's essence that was absorbed into him as a child.

One other thing- In the same episode when Lucas is holding Caleb over his head, he yells down to Merlyn at the bottom of the stairs and calls her "little sister". I don't remember the series ever mentioning that Lucas and Merlyn were related. Was that just supposed to mean that she "became" his sister because she's an angel and Lucas is basically the show's version of Lucifer who is a fallen angel in the bible?

Caleb and Merlyn have the same mother.

Yes, I know Caleb and Merlyn have the same mother, but it makes no sense for LUCAS to call Merlyn "little sister".

Awww. I read 'Lucas' as 'Caleb' ... my bad.

hmmm. Who's to say that Merlyn and Lucas don't have the same father? But then, you'd think she'd be evil too. Perhaps they were two sides of the same coin; him evil and her good.

Maybe that is something that would have come out in the second season.

That's what I was thinking. Like I mentioned, Lucas was supposed to be the show's version of The Devil. The Devil is really Lucifer, a fallen angel. Merlyn became an angel when she died, so it would make sense if they were supposed to represent two sides of the same coin. The entire series had the whole "Heaven and Hell" symbolism going on. There was even an episode (which you can see in the opening credits) where Gayle Emory is sitting at a gravestone and she very much resembles The Virgin Mary. I would have loved to see what Season 2 would have brought us.

When Lucas 'died' Caleb became evil and he caused Gail to have a miscarriage. He did not want a sibling.

Merlyn went to Lucas' grave. She knew he was alive but planned on leaving him there. When Caleb turned evil, she helped Lucas escape his grave. The only way to get the evil to leave Caleb was to kill him, so Lucas threw him from the second floor balcony (hallway/foyer), and to save him Merlyn caught him, and the two fused together. Or, it appeared they fused together. IMO: Merlyn died (again) to save him. Her goodness inside of him would prevent the evil from controlling him in the future. Lucas told Gail he'd give her another chance to bring his next child into the world.

You can see the entire series on IMDb. I just finished doing that. Just go to each episode and click on the "Watch It" button in the upper left.

Yeah I just watched that episode I did not at all think him saying that to mean that they were litterally related...I think it was more used as slang.
