And was it awesome. Unlike some of the previous NIGHTMARE flicks,Nee Nightmare built tension,mood,and pathos. It kinda like the style of Val Lewton. Heather did and excellent job. Everyone did, and it was one of the first meta flicks I remmber

The meta aspect is very interesting, but one that for me, although frightening and all, destroyed the idea of watching the creepy killer in the fictious world eithin Elm Street.
The films mission is to make us feel like it could happen in real life. But it does so way top much, so much that it ultimately loses the effect it originally had. It's like, if you hit a window for so hard and so long, it will break at some point. That's how I felt about this movie being as meta as it was.
