Carbon dating?

Watching this right now. I don't know if this was brought up before, but the line early on about the Confederate bullion being used in an arms deal -- they said they knew the gold was real (stamped 1863) through carbon dating. But that wouldn't work, because the gold was brought to the present day instantaneously, and thus would not have aged.

I know, time travel movies are full of these kinds of errors. I try to let most of them go, but this one jumped right out at me.

The opening, as cool as it is, stands as part of what could have been a much more cool movie. As it is, the scene has absolutely zero bearing on the plot of the film. It would have been much nicer if the guy missing the tooth would have shown up later and gotten his comeuppance, or that Van Damme did more time-travel-butt-kicking rather than just being stuck in present-day for most of the movie.

They probably didn't need the briefing scene at the start of the film because it makes everything seem way more ludicrous than it had to be.

I too wanted to see more of that cool opening sequence or other time travel shenanigans!
