Good movie I think.
I think this is a pretty profound movie. To admit that with friends would probably get me laughed at because they'd say it was too obvious in the way it was done. Well, obvious or not I think a lot of what I think about racism and classism is in this movie. It is not about merit but more primitive in it's origins. I like the whole Prince Albert story and the way it was told. The whole thing. Of course, we know from Mythbusters that a cig does not have that power. No more can I say without spoiling anything.
I like the fact the shrink was the craziest of the bunch. Ain't that the truth!
The depiction of hatred in John was right on. I've seen that before in my life. The fact he had to use an inhaler was hysterical. The whole cabin feast thing... just very nice. Sure people can be on the surface nice to you for a while. Doesn't mean a thing about friend or enemy.
The father and son thing was nice too. I liked seeing the way the other adult men acted toward the son in front of his father when he didn’t want to play along. Other men disciplining the boy in front of his parent - powerful image of the power of a group I thought.
