Just not logical

Not a bad film IMO, lots of action and it is somewhat entertaining. However, I have questions:

When the group of hunters lets Ice-T have a head start while they eat breakfast, he sprints off into the woods. So, when the time has come for the group to hunt, they take off in the very same direction that Ice went. Seriously, how plausible is this? Of all the people they have hunted, surely someone would have run into the woods going north, for example, and then gone all the way around the cabin and started running south. How the hell would the hunters ever find them? You're talking miles and miles of forest in every direction and the hunted person could go anywhere.

When Ice falls into the river one of the hunters says something like "there's only one place to come out of that river". What? This is obviously dialouge added to cover a big plot hole. How would they have any idea where he was? He could have come to shore on the same side as them or on a different side.

Well its been a while since I have seen the movie, but I might have an answer.

1) First the river. Not having seen the movie in about 10 years I dont remember how the river looked, but if it had high banks and he feel into rough rapids, it is logical to assume that there would only be a few possible locations he could leave the river.

2) Heading south. I think this was more of a time saving exercise more than anything. Lets assume he did head North, circle around and then head South. These are people that have been tracking humans for a very long time. Someone who grew up in the city is not going to beable to cover their tracks very well. Not to the degree required to hide from trained hunters.

Also if you liked the plot as a whole, I would recommend the short story "The Most Dangerours Game." I cant remember who wrote it.

I believe he was told which direction the closest city was, so that's why they knew which direction he was running.

For point one didn't they say something like "See these tracks, Stevie Wonder Could follow these tracks".

They would have therefore looked around in all four directions until they saw that he had ran north.
