Rip off of hard target?

classic movie, but i rekcon its based too much in ripping off the movie hard target, van damme (1993)

reply

Actually, this is based on an old story called The Most Dangerous Game. The story is better.

reply

Not really a rip off, Ice Tea said on Monstervision when they were showing this movie that it was being filmed at the same time as Hard Target. So they dicided to releases it much later since they felt the film(or in my opinion just the basic plot) was to similiar.

reply

Hahahahahahahahaha "Ice Tea".

Reread your post, then hit yourself in the head with a hammer.

Other humans hunting humans movies I can think of, Running Man, Run, Judjment Night, Deliverance.

and The Pest (John Leguizamo) I guess I shouldn't admit I saw or remember this movie! lol

reply

Have you guys not seen "Avenging Force", with Michael Dudikoff and Steve James?

Watch the classic ending here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwVW2iLhXt0

reply

The story was originally filmed back in the '30s as The Most Dangerous Game- it used the same Skull Island sets as King Kong. For me it's always been the best version of the tale.

reply

All those movies takes their ideas/plot from the original, 1932 film, The Most Dangerous Game

The cool thing about this movie though, is that Mason is not an ex-special forces guy, like Rambo or Van Damme's Character. He doesn't even know how to shoot a gun! So he uses his wits and does things that we'd probably think he'd do (like double back to the cabin). Sure it's not very realistic most of the time, but it's more fun because he's NOT a super trained killer.

reply

I could have sworn Mason was an Army vet.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

reply

No, you see at the beginning that he didn't know how to handle a gun and his veteran friend scolded him.

reply

His friend was a navy vet. Mason knew nothing about guns or the wilderness/survival.

reply

Clearly a rip off of "Deadly Prey".

The "hunting a person" thing is so generic and unimaginative that no movie can claim it and no movie can rip it off.
