I realize that this movie is very flawed. But hey if look at it from
dollars spent, they did a damn fine job. This movie is so real it's well
funny. I HATE Dazed and COnfused because it is such a lie, that time never happened. In 1976 the economy was going down, the gas shortage was in full
swing and generally it was not a happy time in America. Yet no one seems to remember that. Dazed and Confused is like the way people remember teh 70's and The Stoned Age is like the way it happened. It's like you remember driving a 1971 Firebird, with a once of Panama Red, and a case Shlitz in the trunk. But what actually happened was you had a beat up Volkswagon Squareback, a half a joint of Rag weed, and a bottle of Peppermint Shnapps.

The movie is 100% accurate. I grew up in West LA in the 70's and this is EXACTLY what we used to do. NO exaggeration either. That movie describes a typical Friday or Saturday night.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!...i used to rent it every weekend and watch it 2 or 3 times each weekend when it first came out....have probably seen it 50 times and is just as good the 5oth time as the first. I guess in my case its sort of an escape to your youth and the way life used to be....bring back lots of memories. Every character is so well done and hilarious. 10 stars in my opinion!!

it's definitely better than Dazed and Confused and should be a comedy classic.

yeah i agree. I like this movie, but strictly as far as cheap laughs will get me.

dazed and confused is the superior film. done by one of the shining lights of cinema today. great acting, great script.

weather or not it was like YOUR teenage years is really erelevant as to it's value as a film.

I don't know that it was a "pointless retread of the same ideas". i mean. it's a movie about kids getting messed up in the seventies. now although dazed and confused does have this going on, i don't think retread is the right word.

stoned age is simply a comedy film... dazed and confused is a drama with comedic elements.

their release dates and the "time period" of their stories to me is the only similarity in two films that are always (and needlessly) compared.

maybe the plot setting has anything to do with it? one, dazed and confused is set in austin, tx...stoned age, south ca. besides, as far as the economy and what not at that time...it's just a film, so it really doesn't take a whole lot of politics into consideration.
