This is the most Trekkie of the 4 movies they made with TNG cast
I love it, watch it the most of the 4. I can't believe all the hate it gets but then again they felt like they didn't make it for the masses like they seem to do today.

shareI agree. It is my favourite of the TNG films.
Whilst I like First Contact, it somewhat seems out of place, and clearly has massive implications towards the series with their altering the past.
IMO this is where ToS and TnG should have ended, Kirk goes out saving hundreds of millions of people, Picard ( and the crew ) learn something about themselves, and the Enterprise D goes out in a blaze of glory.
Perhaps the antagonist is under written, and perhaps the nexus isn't explained as well as some would like, but for me it leaves an air of mystery and wonder that Star Trek should always have.
The problems people have are nitpicks imo, and aren't any worse than what many of the episodes, and some of the films had in spades.
Yeah I like First Contact too but it does seem out of place. I thought Insurrection was a disappointment and Nemesis would've been better as the 3rd movie and an all new story for the 4th replacing the lame Insurrection story. I didn't mind them making 4 movies I just felt let down after the 3rd one.
shareContacts had some amazing ideas, but I found it difficult when considering these guys would go back to their current time and find themselves to be centuries old heroes of Earth and the Federation. It would completely change everything, and from my perspective of time displacement throughout Trek would negate the entirety of Star Trek before it.
I just wish it had been explicitly stated that only Cochran and Lilly knew who they were, which is difficult to believe considering how open they were about being from the future.
Insurrection would have made an excellent episode, but as a two hour film I find it just drags, and has some questionable direction. Whilst I found the exact opposite true of Nemesis, fantastic direction hindered by an odd script that doesn't feel very 'Trekkie'.
