How exciting was the crash in theaters?

I'm always on the edge of my seat during the crash scene when I watch it on my TV. How exciting do you think it was to watch in the theater?

"Pretty darn" is the answer. I had read way to much about the movie and more or less knew the whole plot going in. So I knew it was coming, but it was still amazing. Now, I was a lot younger then, and much more easily impressed, and much more obsessed with Trek then.

It was exciting but I remember everybody laughing really hard at Data when he swore right before the crash.

In the theater I saw it, we all went absolutely crazy!

Laugh while you can. Monkey Boy!

I don't have much of a recollection beyond being ridiculously excited because it was the first ever Star Trek film that I had seen in the cinema. I think...it's the only Star Trek film that I've seen in the cinema as well. Couldn't get out for First Contact because I was grounded, missed Insurrection and Nemesis for reasons I can't remember. Didn't see any of the new ones in the cinema either and the TOS films I was too young.

Oh well, back on track. I remember thinking that there's no way that they could destroy the Enterprise and then, yup, they did exactly that. I really dug watching Riker sit in the Captain's chair. And of course Data's line. But Riker sitting in the main seat was probably the most awesome memory for me.

This was one of the last films I saw in a theater. The crash sequence is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes.

I saw it at the theater. I didn’t find the crash to be particularly exciting. The scuttling of the Enterprise in III was much more impactful to me. Personally I would have preferred if they would have kept the D instead of replacing it with the E.

I saw this in theaters, it was pretty epic at the time.

It was epic and shocking. I'd never seen that sort of thing happen to the Enterprise before.

it looked like a model, so not a big deal

But better than CGI, which would have looked like a video game.
