Imo even babies day out or richie rich released in 1994 is better than this film

Well, I never actually agreed with it being number, I'm not mad it was neither. There are many movies that could had gotten this spot and would had been way worse choices.
The mass loved the movie, so it deserved to be there. Just remember that The Dark Knight nearly reached the spot...

When The Dark Knight came out in 2008....it was widely considered the Greatest CBM ever and one of the best movies ever.....But it also created A Hardcore fan base of Nolanites....
If I remember right, The Dark Knight debuted at like #3 on IMDB....and Nolan fans went on A Rampage of Fake voting to try and get The Dark Knight to IMDB #1 spot....
again If I remember right The Godfather was #1 at the time and Nolan fans created thousands of fake accounts to rate The Godfather 1's to try and get The Dark Knight ahead of it....
The Nolan fans succeed, The Dark Knight did take the #1 spot for a short period of time....
But IMDB realized what was going on, weeded out as many of the fake accounts and votes as they could....but the result was The Godfather score was still effected, The Dark Knights Score wasnt quite as high.... Which resulted In The Shawshank Redemption sliding into the #1 spot....
bottom Line, The Shawshank Redemption is an ALL TIME great film...your completely wrong when you say its "One of the most overrated crap film" ....It would be in the top 5 ......buuuuuuuuuuuut
It would NOT Be in the #1 spot without Nolan fans.....thier attempt to down vote The Godfather and Vote Up The Dark Knight backfired and resulted in TSR getting the #1 spot....
and dont for a second think this means The Dark Knight's rating is fake....It debuted at #3 before any of the fake voting began....The Dark Knight's in The top 10 is Justified....IMDB has a system that Weeds out 95% of fake votes....
This movie is pure Hollywood formulaic storytelling. There is nothing original about it, not one thing. The three main characters are all one dimensional. Neither Andy nor Redd have any faults at all and Norton is pure evil.
Tim Robbins acting would be ripped to shreds in any beginners acting class. Thank God for Morgan Freeman.
Anybody who didn’t see the ending coming from a mile away has clearly not read The Count of Monte Christo, a super fun book, but no masterpiece either.

I never said the movie was bad. I found it entertaining in the same way I found Titanic and Forrest Gump, two other formulaic movies. You assumed many things about me based on your own insecurity.

I have to say I agree. In addition to being a formulaic and un-subtle McDonalds movie, overwhelmingly I've always found this flick to be treacly and abrasively emotionally manipulative in a way that makes me cringe. I rip on it Neil Hamburger style a lot irl.

These are 2 films that whenever I watch them I always think back to my childhood....
I was in 4th or 5th grade and I would come home from school around 3:30 and go back to my moms room and watch TV from like 330 until 630 when she got home from work....at the time we had Direct TV and she had like 10 HBOs,Showtimes, and Cinemamax's and these 2 movies were just coming out on those channels and I bet I watched them 20 times each as I kid during this time....
I made a list the other day of about 50 movies that were released in 1993,94 and 95....that everytime I watch them they remind me of my child hood...
