When Wade asked Gail if she'd go down the Gauntlette again

In that scene, where Wade was talking to Gail about the Gauntlette and asking if she'd go down it again, Gail said no because she has kids and Wade said "and a husband" and Gail said "Yes and a husband." Wade then said "and what if you didnt?"
Ok, if someone, especially a man, that I've only known for a day at the most said that to me, I'd be starting to get seriously suspicious and freaked out. Gail was way too trusting of Wade and Terry. I would not be letting two men that I don't know go camping with me at all. I would also pack a gun with me for protection too. If Tom and Gail had a gun, they probably would not have gone through what they did.

Gail was clearly uncomfortable when Wade said that to her.

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

Agreed. If Gail were me and he said that, I would take that as either a threat or a come-on. Either way, CREEPY.

Yeah I thought she was very silly to let him barge his way into her little "river family". But he was flirting with her and she didn't object to it, and she liked him, I could tell. So she was more trusting of him because of that.

Well, the whole story starts off with her and Tom not having a great marriage. Not being intimate. She probably hadn't had that kind of attention from a guy in years. Her husband was being a dead beat. So, I could understand her getting wooed very easily by a charming and good looking young man. Women need love, affection, attention. Am I right ladies?

reply

Very right indeed! :)
