seriously, the gun got old
it was the whole plot
shareI know what you mean. If Wade didn't have the gun he would have no authority. If the gun went in the water there would be no movie.

I agree. The gun really got old when underwater. I always thought wet guns and wet bullets didn't fire. Apparently, I was wrong.

Apparently.
Guns most certainly do fire underwater. Modern ammunition is pretty reliable.
sharethat's a myth, most pistols still work even when they have been underwater.
shareYou know what else got old? The river. Why only one setting? Why couldn't they have moved to a highway chase or the top of a building or something? Booooring! I mean, whoever heard of an exciting movie that takes place in only one setting or locale? Like an apartment. I couldn't see anyone ever making an exciting movie that takes place in an apartment, no matter who good the view from the Rear Window is. *ahem*
sharei bet your a big fan of Phonebooth then McGuinty ;)
shareThe gun was very important to the plot. Wade and Terry were amateur punks. Without the the threat of the gun, the family could have easily gotten away from them and down the river!
Just goes to show that there would be a lot less crime in society if people had to rely on their brains and brawn. Guns give people that are not powerful whatsoever power.
I agree the gun was too important. That's the way the writers saw it and yet...I wish the end had been resolved some other way.
