Is Roarke a common name?
Before this movie, I had never heard it before. What an unhappy name, LOL.

Gail must've been watching Fantasy Island when she gave birth to him and that's why his name is Roarke(after Mr. Roarke on that show, of course). Just kidding.
shareIt seems to me, for the last 3 decades or so, that it is quite popular to give children names which are quite uncommon, in the USA. Surnames, turned into a given name, is a prime example, as we see here with Roark.
"Howard Roark", protagonist of Ayn Rand's 1943 novel The Fountainhead which was, and still is, a significant influence among libertarians and American conservatives. (Played by Gary Cooper in the 1949 movie.)
A name more commonly chosen by Republican parents.
