1. Never offer to ride together on a family rafting trip with some strangers you do not know.

2. Plan a better escape scheme and route when trying to get away from bad guys...such as waiting until they are asleep at night (this is before Wade and Terry knew they were trying to ditch them) and then leaving right then and there.

3. When you get the knife snuck into your pocket by your son....its best to try and get the gun instead of just taking the knife and stabbing the living crap out of Wade while Gale takes a boat paddle to knock Terry the you know what out.

4. Wade thinks just because Tom fell off the rocks when he shot towards him that he is automatically dead.

5. When it starts to thunder and lighting out, go ahead and bathe in the water anyways.

For Number 5, I don't believe Wade genuinely thought the husband was dead. I think he said this in an attempt to break the spirit of Gail and Roarke and intimidating them. Just my idea

7) When introducing your husband to another man, simply refer to him as your son's father.

8) A piece of a tree branch is a crappy birthday present unless it's got a couple hundred dollar bills shoved into it.

I noticed that too that she doesn't say husband but "Roarke's father." That was one of the clues to Wade that they were having problems.

9. When you get caught by Wade trying to ditch them, after yelling for your family's lives, don't even notice or put any attention to Wade slapping your son across the face. If you don't see it or defend him, then it never really happened. (At least that's what it seemed like).

10. Instead of going with the original plan of going on Little Niagara (or whatever it was called) and flipping the raft over, change the plan to going on the guatlet just because your husband is now alive. Because it's definitely less dangerous to take the deadly Guatlet instead of breathing through the air pocket that the raft will make.

11. Just because a director makes a piece of garbage movie like this one, it doesn't mean he can't make a great movie (LA Confidential).
