Wouldn't be surprised if Lena Dunham borrowed from this movie too

Core group of four 20somethings trying to find themselves after college. Two live together and their apartment is a gathering place for their friends. They deal with:

losing a job
trouble finding a job
money problems
thinking they've got an STD
one-night stands
boyfriends who don't "get" them
parents who cut them off financially
thinking they're great artists who are underappreciated and undiscovered
being too good for the 9 to 5 world

Although I guess you could say these are things that many 20somethings deal with.

Just gave it a rewatch and all I could think about was how Girls is just a revamp of Reality Bites. Lena Dunham just recycles old material and puts earnest hipsters in it.

There have been a whole series of coming of age films like this, going all the way back to The Best Years of our Lives from 1946. The fact that we have a term like "coming of age film" shows how many there have been.
