Every time I view I'm left thinking "so what?" What was the point of this movie? Are they taking shots at Congress for pointless hearings, did they actually think what NBC/Geritol did was wrong? I feel like Redford never truly takes a side, though I like to believe he's taking a shot at Congress for being a little something I like to call "Sling Blade retarded", thoughts?
shareI also wondered whether Goodwin really believed Van Doren and why he gave him chances to avoid testifying over and over, then told his wife he wasn't even trying to reform contestants. I think the problem is Rob Morrow's acting and the script was kind of aimless in places as you say. But I do love the movie. You can get it on blu-ray region free from Australia for under $30 US on ebay. The movie looks much better than on dvd. Not overexposed and washed out like it was.
