It was possibly an homage to the "poets", as not only was Hawke in the film, but the actor who played the "traitor"( sorry... I can't remember the characters name, or the actor) is there as well. It could be a reference to the characters now being at Columbia, which would be logical since they wanted to go to Ivy League schools, and would be the right age. Probably a little homage to that film from the producers of quiz show. It does seem a bit odd, as "QS" doesn't strike me as whimsical enough to play with film quotes like that, but hey... Who knows. Maybe if we ever get a commentary on the film they can explain it!
