I think you're underestimating what the role of Tina Carlyle entailed. Her beauty was her mask; she was actually cunning and used her looks and charm to fool all the men around her. I like Kat Dennings, but I haven't seen her in a role where she's tackled something like this - her roles are generally very uncomplicated.
