The scene where Stanley puts on the mask for the first time

Used to creep me out as a kid. Gotta love how you spot Tasmanian devil on the cushion while Stanley is spinning around like the Tasmanian devil.

Yup, almost every time that scene came up I would get goosebumps, although sometimes the reason was I couldn't wait to see him as The Mask. But yeah, I really like the tension that scene builds.

This scene laid the groundwork for all my Friday nights as an adult.

it would've been funnier if he was in mask the entire movie. the opening credits looks like a kids movie, then the first shot is of a looney tunes magazine, this starts off like a pretty corny mainstream movie, it isn't until he puts on the mask it turns into a riot, and carrey is just the right in the part. this is obviously a version of the jekyll and hyde story, but here using a mask where he then hits the nightlife and the clubs on so on just as the nutty professor based on the same story, by the way, since his face is green and he is a living special effect this movie has no logic at all and is pretty much a circus, not that i don't like it. quite odd background music at some places. the ending with the shoot out was rather brutal and unexpected considering it had looked much like a kid friendly movie up to that point. unless i missed something, i would have enjoyed more of an explanation where the mask comes from, this is explained in a twilight zone episode sharing the same theme and title as this movie, but instead of the mask becoming an excessive version of one self, reveals the true inner nature and after using the mask their faces has irreversibly changed. besides from the special effects, i find this movie has the feeling of a low budget 90's movie and does not feel as up to date as dumb and dumber and other major flicks from this time, by the way, why in the world has ace ventura completely disappeared into obscurity, i remember those were huge in the 90's, and i can't remember the last time they aired or hearing about them.

at times lets me think im in control,
just for you to laugh it off,
