Y THE LOW RATING???
i remember watching this movie way back when and thinking it was hilarious...
sharei remember watching this movie way back when and thinking it was hilarious...
shareThis movie was absolutely awful. There wasn't one funny moment. I can't believe it was ranked this high.
shareWhy the rating is so low? Because many people think that they have a sense of humor but they actually don't.
Same think applies to Fish Called Wanda - a great movie, but is soooooooooo underrated.
A Fish Called Wanda is underrated? It's got a 7.7 rating on this site and won an oscar for acting, which is damn near unheard of for a comedy.

I'm in JROTC and I hated this movie. I didn't find it funny at all, and we have to watch it 2 or 3 times a year!
shareI know!! It's a classic. Not seen it in years but it was the sh*t back in the day. Got it on video somewhere lol, might have to pull it out sometime.

Yeah, back in those far off days of 8 years ago, comedies were completely different way back in the 90s...
Major Payne sucks - that's why it doesn't have a high rating. Whoever compared it to Fish Called Wanda - one of the most well-regarded comedies of the 1980s - is smoking crack.
8 years ago? Try 13.
I probably wouldn't think much of it now but back then it was great.
I think you'll find 'the 90s' ended 8 years ago. I'm well aware of when 'Major Payne' came out. Comedies in the 90s weren't really any different to the ones nowadays. If you were very young in the 90s then films then might SEEM different, but they weren't really markedly different.
shareHighly underrated, I remember watch this on TV and LMAO right through the movie, then buying the VHS tape which I still own, might have to watch it soon.

No one really cares about the ratings on Imdb, anyway, they're mostly garbage.
Anyways, I LOVE this movie.
Cracks me up every single time I watch it!!!
This time, Effie White's gonna win.
Whitney was wrong. Children are no longer the future.
rascism.
sharexxTheDudexx is right, it is racism. Just look a Superbad that movie is way overrated and has a higher rate on this site yet movies like Major Payne get lower rates due to the fact that a black man is starring in it and hes entertaining in it I bet if he was killed in the movie it would of had a better score.

Yeah I watched it the other day and I thought it was better than an other cheap comedy they have put out recently. nothing great but certainly a good movie
Im not getting him a f@#!ing bagel!
I'm 31 (mentioning this as it came out in 1995 when I was a senior in HS and D. Wayans was really popular than and if I remember this movie did well), some people say this movie has a good following. I know people that LOVE this movie and I've never watched the entire thing so I tried to watch it as its been on lately. For ME, it's not the gut-wrenching comedy some of my peers made it out to be. In fact, I was disappointed and turned it off. But that's me and to each his own. I read the IMDB profile review on M.P and he/she made some good points. People either love or hate it, and being in/around military people might change perceptions. Anyways, I know some people call this a "classic" and that's fine. I think what bothers me is that calling it as such makes me feel old..lol..1995??? And some people talk about it as if it where another dimension. I guess that's how I looked at the 70s....just my 2 cents. I'm going to give it another shot as I've only seen up to the point where the kids hire the biker to attack Payne. At least there's the beautiful Ms. Parsons ;)
share"Y THE LOW RATING??"
The answer to that is simple: this movie was stupid and it sucked! Hell, I would give it a rating of about rating of 1.3.
