Another Huge Plot Hole: Truancy

Mathilda gets a phone call from the school because she's skipped school for two weeks. And her father is totally oblivious because he had an argument with her the previous day over homework.

Where does Mathilda go to school? At the Spencer School for Girls in Wildwood, New Jersey.

Where does Mathilda live? In Little Italy, Manhattan.

How far is it from Manhattan to Wildwood, New Jersey? 160 miles.

How long does it take to drive from Manhattan to Wildwood, New Jersey? Over 2.5 hours.

It's obviously a school day, again, since she had argued with her dad the previous day over homework.

So either:

1. The Spencer School was a boarding school, and she had stayed home from a boarding school for 2 weeks and yet her parents didn't know.

Or:

2. She commuted 5.5-6 hours every day to school. But even so, she would have had to leave at about 5 in the morning to get to school on time. So her parents should have been a bit suspicious when she's still home at around 9.

This film is one plot mess after another.

It should be against the law to use 'LOL'; unless you really did LOL!

She did tell them she died. And private schools like that prob didn't wabt her there anyway so likely said ok fine she's dead or whatever. Open space for another child. They prob did not care at all about her life.

they might have assignments and work to submit to teachers/tutors/employees during the Summer at a field office in large cities like New York, which probably accounted for most of their kids. Though there might be many parents like the Landos who just wanted to get rid of problem kids and had the [drug] money to dump them out of state, other parents might want to have the kids go on vacations during a typical off-season for schools.

It is unlikely that any licensed school, which would be serving as responsible parties for the care of children would let two weeks go by without insuring that she was somewhere else and safe, unless she was just supposed to be at home and turning in previously-assigned homework to a local outlet. Many take tests or work to proctors in local schools or public libraries for credit elsewhere.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I see absolutely no connection between my post and yours.

You are missing something alright, that's for sure. It's hard to make a connection with any of your post, especially when they are totally irrelevant to anything. Yea the movie has a few plot holes. We get it already! As usual when someone replys to your post, you reply back and try to make them sound stupid. Can I make a guess and say that the point of your post is Another Major Plot Hole: Truancy or This Film Is One Plot Mess After Another? I know, maybe it's both. Wow this is really hard to figure out. I'm so exhausted!!
