Title song is not "It Could Happen to You."

My two major problems with this film:
1. The eponymous song is never used, even though it would make more sense than the one that is used, "Young at Heart." Plus IMHO it is a much more interesting song!
2. The Nicholas Cage wife character doesn't feature prominently in great movie villains of all time, yet she is up there. Since this movie is based on a true story, the person she's based on must feel pretty bad, so I guess she got what she deserved!

The film is not based on any real life people

it is, but the story is very different. well kinda, in really life a cop couldn't tip a waitress, offered her the same deal "double the tip or half the winnings", they won, and he give her half, but i he think the cop only won 500,000 dollars. there was no romance, no affairs, no attraction....

they were from buffalo, and theres a nod in the film to it, when they are asking about how many others with share the jackpot, muriel says "a couple from buffalo"

Another nod: they talk about moving to Buffalo while dancing in the diner, after everything goes to sh!t.

Stop! Manners time.

I guess you're still to learn that based/inspired by true events generally means the story has been highly fictionalized. IRL both the cop and the waitress were happily married.🐭
