Why would Lestat be afraid of a helicopter light?

In 1988, when he met Louis again, helicopters have existed for almost 50 years. How come half a century was not enough time for him to realize such a thing as a helicopter existed and light it emitted was artificial and totally harmless to him? Did he spend a fair amount of time in some kind of isolation?

I believe after he was burned he went into isolation and went underground I believe to sleep and awoke in 198-something. There is a post
on here somewhere, where someone mentions it. :)

To me, it looked more like Lestat reacted to the helicopter due to his trauma and isolation, not so much because he literally wouldn't know what a helicopter light is.
It's like if you consolidate a war veteran who has a trauma if he gets shocked by a firework.

reply

Well, if Lestat knows how to drive a car, as is shown in the movie ending, I doubt he doesn't know what a helicopter is. He was probably surprised and/or still weak when this happened.

-Goodnight, mother of six!
-Goodnight, father of two!

The real question is, WHY THE FUCK DID A HELICOPTER COME DOWN & HOVER NEXT TO A RANDOM MAUSOLEUM, SHINE ITS LIGHT IN THERE, AND THEN FLY AWAY

& why did Louie think this was completely normal

reply

The movie makes it very clear he was afraid of the light thinking it was like the sun. Louis even tells him it's false light that can't hurt him.
