Just re-watched this movie and i remember it being much better when i was younger, was surprised at how much i would dislike it on a rewatch, really a shame, cause i really liked it back then. Anyway on to the point!

No matter how hard i look i cant recognize John Cleese in Waldman! I can see similarities, sure, but i just can't see John Cleese himself. Does anybody else feel like this?

I think it was the wig and makeup that made him look different.

Its that man again!!

i agree, the stubble made him look different, reminded me of Trevor Eve a bit

I think Branagh wanted Cleese to play the part completely straight, with none of the normal mannerisms we associate with a Cleese role, even when semi-serious. To Cleese's credit, I think he succeeded.🐭
