Forest should've gotten a DNA test

Jenny was a bullshitter, and I think there's a chance she wanted the only decent thing in her life to take care of her son after she found out she was on borrowed time.

Y'don't suppose that Forrest, the wise fool, might have not been at all interested in the actual paternity? Everything about him suggests that he was all about doing the kind and decent thing.

Imagine how clumsy that scene would be if Forrest Gump had gotten a paternity test for him and little Forrest. Even if they only did a narration instead of shooting the whole scene the voice-over would be clumsy:

"So I got a paternity test done (whatever that is) because Lieutenant Dan said 'women be ho's' (whatever that means) and that was a test I passed without even studying!!"

So instead of either, they filmed a little director's cue to show visually in two seconds that Little Forrest was Forrest's son. So much neater and heartwarming than a cold paternity test.

I agree, but he still should've done it. Jenny was bullshit.

In real life, yes. With Jenny's past, a paternity test would be a good choice.

But Jenny gets a lot of hate that I don't think she deserves. In reality, many girls who are continually raped by their fathers have severe social and emotional issues like Jenny and often far worse, assuming they don't kill themselves. They usually go from one abusive relationship to another believing they're not worthy of anything better. What a sad and horrible childhood.

To her credit, Jenny got herself clean and straightened her life out when she had her son. She got a regular job, an apartment, and was raising a well behaved little boy on her own when life dealt her that last big middle finger. At least Forrest made the rest of her short life a happy, comfortable, and safe one for her.
